As most of you know, the site was down most of the day/evening yesterday. Regardless, things need to get transitioned and at some point today i will be continuing to work on that migration/upgrade. Please expect outages and various errors cropping up as i continue to pin down the site problems.

Do the updates have an effect on the layout and look for the IPB App for iPhone? I was just in the app this morning and now just before going to bed the whole look and feel of the app is different. I can actually post a Status Update now where as it was greyed out before. Also noticed that the button that you tap that gives you a list of what to display ie Status, Messages, New Posts, etc, etc. Was like a drop down list and now has tiles like Windows Phone 7.

I have not done any updates to the App itself that's why I was wondering if it is a server change that changes the way the app looks and operates.

Are you just agreeing with me or are you saying the server updates are different that the update I am seeing in the IPB iOS App?

From what Poo has said, and from a time I visited the site using Safari on iPhone, the mobile version in Safari looked near identical to the IPB app. This makes me think that the look we see be it on a PC browser, Mobile Browser or App is controlled by the server.

BTW I have to agree with Poo, this new site is looking FANTASTIC!

I have noticed though, when viewing a list of posts, be it "New Topics" or just in one of the forum directories, that before there used to display page links for a post so you could go directly to that page. Now it just goes to the first page and when there are a few hundred pages like "General discussions/General chit chat" it is a pain to have to hit the "Next" button a couple dozzen times just to get to the last page.

This said I do have to say I was taken to the last page a couple times. What the difference was I don't know.

Also I am missing the "Back to Top" button. It is a pain on a long page of posts to have to manually scroll back to the top.

I was wondering as well, in the top right of an individual post, there is a shaded circle with a check mark. What is this about/for?

The mobile skin is part of the upgrade. The app is just a shell client, you could use any browser really and see the mobile skin.

As far as jumping, the mobile browser always goes the the last post or last unread post, you shouldn't have to be using next a couple dozen times. Realize the mobile skin is very limited, well,  because it's a mobile skin...

The check mark is the "like" button.

That's true, I do remember there were "jump to page..." links, that I no longer see on the mobile skin.  But I did eventually learn that if you click the icon on the left side of a topic with new content (used to be a little box, now either a circle or a star, not sure which each means yet), it will take you directly to the newest post since you've visited that topic.

Not sure about the equivalent on android, but on the iphone, either in the app or in a browser, you can tap on the gray bar at the top (where it shows the time, battery power, service provider, etc) and it will take you back to the top.  Just as an alternative to an on-page "back to the top" option for now.

The star means you've posted in the topic, the circle only shows up when it's a new unread topic. You can also click on the time on the far right side and it'll take you to the last post. These are options on the regular skin and not the mobile.

Nope don't have that. This is what I see useing the IPB iOS App. And the icons at the bottom are, from left to right; Back, Refresh, Upload Photo, Update Status, Share: Email/Open in Safari/Return to Forum List. No "Back to Top" button.

PS. Where is the "Attach Image" that used to be at the bottom of the post editor? I had to upload to Photobucket and post an image link.

Thanks Munki. Ya it should go top the last page but most of the time it didn't. I'll play around a bit more with it and see maybe it was just a new update glitch.

FYI I know you are thinking it so I'll say it "Why don't you just use the Browser?" Well since I can never seem to remember my passwords, I use the iPB app that just logs me in automatically. Plus if I ever sign up to any other forums that use IP Board, I can have them all in one place.

I use the browser on my iphone, I've only ever had to login twice - the rest of the time it automatically logs me in.
And if you're wondering why I use the browser on the iPhone, 1. It's more reliable (I've had the app crash several times). 2. Because it's faster than the IPB app and takes less system resources (all the app does is use Safari in a fancy window anyway). 3. One less app to keep updating

Yes on the mobile skin I don't have circles but I do have stars and they are either filled dark blue or filled light grey. If I click (on mobile) either on the topic name or on the right where I have a chevron, it takes me to the same place, not the last page. I have tried this now on a couple of posts.

I don't recall many updates for the IPB app and I have never had the app crash on me although it did have this weird error thing for a while that was intermittent where I would be at the forums list and when tapping BPC it gave me an HTTP error. I found that if I quickly tapped "Return to forum list" and BPC again really fast it would log in. This has not happened yet since Munki's update. As for it being faster or slower I haven't noticed a difference.

I was also having issues with the IPB app, but you named the number one reason why I deleted it off the phone, it was constantly needing to be updated, to the point where I was feeling harassed by it.

Does that mean we should hold off on reporting any weirdness?

Also, not of great concern to me, but how does the "Client Area" know my full name?  I don't have it set in my profile anywhere from what I see.
