What about the recent work/posts? Are they cached or are they gone?

Everything stored in mysql is gone, I even took steps to keep everything backed up up till today at 2:30 am, sadly mac os x didn't like that back up and now anything a week post of this back up is gone. This is what i get for trusting apple to do anything right when it comes to servers. I'll be back to the linux box as soon as i get time to migrate...

Aw. Well, I have a back up of the Fallout 3 stuff, but the CoD 3 stuff.
Aw.
Well, it could have been worse. I had time to do some work in the downtime, so it's all good.

That's too bad. Downright sucks. I'm sure the Munki household wasn't a happy place during that time.
Another reason why I usually wait a bit before I update any software, much less operating systems. My Apple programs I'm not too concerned about compatibility issues (though they aren't totally immune) but my 3rd party stuff, I wait until I get confirmation from the company and look for user reviews.
But this isn't about compatibility, it sounds like it just didn't work. I wonder if your experience is echoing across the rest of the webdom?

Apple, in it's infinite wisdom has decided to go even further into the "press a button and it just works" mode of software. Sadly, it's just not that simple and the stripped down server admin is a prime example of how badly this idea fails. They've pretty much removed any convenience of more advanced settings and said go back to diggin through logs and configuring everything via console. I wasn't about to spend all night trying to make it work, when it was basically work fine the way it was. It's just that the backups i had (via time machine) wouldn't restore before the 13th around midnite, yet another practically useless feature of os x server.

Yes, Munki I concur with Stash. Thank you for all the time you put in. I'm just happy to have the BPC even if it does have amnesia
