With Valve having added the Macintosh to its game distribution system Steam, they've been rolling out their greatest hits for the platform. Now joining the fray is one of their best, and one of the best multiplayer experiences you can have in front of a computer monitor: Team Fortress 2.
TF2 is an immaculately balanced class-based FPS, sporting a metric tonne of clever design, slapstick humour and visual panache. Even though it was released years ago, it hasn't aged a bit and is as much fun as ever. The best part, however, is the support Valve has lavished on the game since release. They've tweaked maps, characters and weapons through 119 updates that continually improve the play experience of what was one of the best shooters of all time to begin with.
Combine this with an eminently reasonable distribution scheme, where those who own the game on one platform can download it for the other for free, and throw everyone on the same multi-platform servers so Mac users can vent years of pent-up frustration on their Windows based brethren.
It's a win-win situation for everybody. So get out there and start shooting with style, maggots!
