I think I get why people are all excited about this, but to me it looks boring as hell.

I played the hell outta Diablo when it came out, sadly that soured me even more for games like it. I think these games really cater to people that just want to jump in, kill some shit, maybe level up and then go watch tv. I really need more meat and potatoes type gameplay otherwise i'm with ya Aven, it seems pretty bland.

While I put 120 days played into my WoW character, Diablo III (as well as The Sims) makes me wish there was a /played feature for all their games. Because I'd honestly be willing to believe that between Diablo I and II, I sunk in a year of my life. Since 1998, its been my pinnacle and end-all, be-all as far as videogames go. The Diablo series was the first game that had me up all night playing, and its the first game that made me fall in love with Bizzard. Though long-awaited, and aside from the current controversy over the details of the game (Activision be damned!), I totally expect to lose plenty of sleep over this game. And I am totally ok with that.

I guess if you just aren't into it, Munk and Aven, then its not up your alley. But honestly, I wouldn't describe it as bland or casual. Maybe that's just years of fan-girl speaking, but I've always found Diablo to be extremely immersive and complex.

That being said, I am sort of upset at some of the turns that DIII seems to be making. Ever since Activision acquired Blizzard, they've been making all sorts of money-motivated changes to their games. Starting with WoW where they implemented gender, race, class, faction changes for a small fee, they've just run with that concept and now its manifesting in a real money-based auction house. I'm worried about the type of players this is going to bring into the game... In WoW, it was annoying enough to have Chinese farmers running about, but that was when it was still frowned upon and at least somewhat covert. With the game and its maker encouraging this kind of behaviour, I can't help but worry that the game pop is going to be tainted with people just trying to sell their crap...

I quit cold turkey in November of 2008 and never looked back. All my 120 days were logged between launch and that time. I raided quite a bit, so I'm sure if I hadn't jumped off the train, my main would be at something just as obscene :)

Pretty much when Cata came out, I levelled up then quit. I dunno, it all seems so silly and easy now. I really enjoyed vanilla raiding, but it was a slippery slope downwards, imo.

Yeah, those were basically my feelings. Everything is so ez-mode now, what's the fun of funnelling in all those hours of hard work if you're going to make it so simple and easy a casual playing, numbskull could do it?

Here's to hoping DIII isn't as "streamlined" and noob friendly.

I was mostly talking about WoW right there. I actually have no idea how the DIII auctionhouse will work,or will effect the game pop. as a whole, but I'm just sorta cringing waiting for it to happen, so we can see how it all comes down. The way DII worked, unless people were entering your multiplayer game and trying to solicit you, most of the times you were just left alone in a game with your friends. The openness of the WoW world left everyone really exposed to the Chinese farmers and spamming of people trying to sell you shit. Who knows how it will play out in DIII? The games are vastly different from one another, I just hope it turns out alright.

That being said, I'm on tenterhooks waiting for a beta invite. OMMMGGGG please come in the next few weeks!

It's never coming out, it's going to sit there and tease you and haunt you and titillate you for years because that's how Bobby Kotick gets to get your money; String you along, make you pay for teaser trailers and "behind the scenes" making of's and que lists for beta invites. God forbid they should ever make a World of Warcraft II.

First of all, that dude is gonna have a heart-attack. Second of all, i have zero feelings for Blizzard anything and now, knowing what i know about Activision, they couldn't pay me to play any game from them.. Sorry Diablo III fans, you won't catch me in game. Way too many other, better games out there.
