Hi all,

 

As you may have noticed there are things that are in need of fixing and some stuff i've been trying out to bolster interest, however, none of these things are really working. Please realize i don't get paid to run this site, the very minimal ad revenue i get for the one small ad we have for the whole year makes one months payment, so everything for almost the past year is out of my pocket. Without participation and a consistent stream of info sharing, playing games together and overall feedback, this site is hardly worth the money and effort on my part to keep going. Due to my personal preference of not console gaming, i feel as though the site has taken a major hit. I've been strictly playing one game with a sprinkle or two of others here and there, mostly on PC. Given that, I really don't have the knowledge to keep creating events since i get very little feedback on what anyone is even playing anymore (beside BLOPS).

 

Starting now until this Sunday I am requesting support and feedback. Support in the way of stepping up to host a game you're interested in playing, in participation with sharing info, news, general BS and maybe a donation here or there. Running this site is both time consuming and certainly isn't free. There are plenty of sites focused on gaming, what made all this worthwhile for me was that i knew people had pride in our little corner and took the time and energy to participate. Since that is now at an all time low, it might just be time to cut my losses, start lurking and let this thing run it's course.

 

Sunday evening from 4pm-8pm PST, I will be holding an open forum, both on teamspeak and in chat, where you can come in and discuss what direction the site can take. You can also PM me here on the site, e-mail me or even just post in here. You can make a difference or just let it fall to oblivion.

I noticed it was a bit difficult with PC as my platform too. I'll stop by and see if I can contribute. It might be feasible to move to some free services if that will help cut costs. Is it just the domain and hosting? Teamspeak server too, perhaps?

There are actually a lot of services running on the box, right now i've moved the site to a quad core machine with 16GB of RAM, fully dedicated and sitting right here next to me. It's a bit over 100 a month for the bandwidth, which i now use for the whole house (so i tie that into cost of living). Every 6 moths is another 125 for renewals and i just renewed our domain for 3 years. The biggest cost was the server and making that upgrade. Past this point, the monthly cost is lumped into our regular monthly spending, but that's not to mention my time. I'd love a regular donation, but that's really not the issue, the issue is that we are splintered and the contributions (aka posts, people playing together, hearing feedback on the events we do create, etc.) is severely lacking. There is a core of about 10 people and that really needs to change. I need people to step up, host some events, get people interested again. I do a lot of the running of the site and handle all the technical stuff on the backend, that's when i'm not playing or working full time.

Hello all,

 

just cleaned out my email and saw the note, yup a dew days late as usual. work has been booming in my area (pharma) so my time has been limited- and i have to confess- the PS3 has not had much allure when compared to the PC in the last year.

 

I do look toward 2013 with mixed emotions - some nice PS3 exclusives i would like to play with people from this group, others i would get for PC due to graphics- but i never got anything going out of the steam group like we used to out of here with our weekly meets.

 

I'll help when i can, but time is limited due to my job, and unfortunately i am one that can shrink easily into a cocoon of work if I am not tempted out at times.

This isn't fully live yet, but it's making progress. I think i'll be favoring this system over the collections system, it's just going to take time to code.

It's looking good, Munk.  The only thing I can think of is that the ability to add yourself as an owner needs to be put in quick so that it fulfils the need of people to see who owns what for possible organization of online games.

Hi all,

 

While I totally appreciate all the great feedback and information from the last meeting, I will need to continue this trend and ask for additional feedback and most of all focus for our little site. I've made some major/minor changes and am still in the process of creating more tutorials about what people can use, how to use it and most of all if it's something i should be focused on coding. Bottomline is that this is a site for everyone and usability, comfort and being able to extend your social self is my personal #1 priority. I for sure am soaking up the previous feedback and am implementing changes based on that. So I will be holding yet another focus group dealing with the following:

 

• Podcast - Is it important, should we do it and how strict should it be? We've discussed some of this and it's a big undertaking so it's best we get commitment and focus.
• The new changes - especially to the database of games, do you like them? Are we headed in the right direction? I post these changes in the hope we continue down a path people aren't confused, it's going to take some time to work it all out however.
• Social Groups - Do they work for you, do you even know what they are? How can they be improved?

These are my main focuses right now and i need to know that we are filling the social void. I have great notes, but i really need to prioritize my time. I don't want anyone to think i'm not taking feedback seriously. Regardless, I will be holding an open forum again on February 10th all are welcome to come voice opinions about the site changes and offer feedback.

I'm actually not moving until May, but I'll be flying back to TN on the 10th.  I might be able to jump in late.
